On our first day in Chicago, Gus and I spend time with family in the morning/early afternoon celebrating my father in law's award at his alma mater. That night, we took advantage of our city surroundings and had a wonderful date! We ventured down Michigan avenue, stopping to see the river, the bean (of course), and to get supper at a quaint sushi place before heading to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra! It was my first taste of the Chicago sights and I loved every minute of it, even though I was pretty cold! Since it was date night, I changed from my cozy sweater and skirt into something more chic and modern. This Something Navy Brand dress from Nordstrom was the perfect fit (both for the location and for my body). I enjoyed the silky fabric and the shift silhouette. I also liked that it is a little outside of my comfort zone in terms of style. I believe that it is good to push your boundaries and try things that you normally wouldn't try in fashion, especially when in a bigger city! I introduced the Something Navy Brand in a previous blog post, and so enjoy all of my pieces from the September collection. I am excited to see what the November selection is!

I styled this dress with these beautiful Louise et Cie sock booties, also from Nordstrom. They don't look very comfortable, but they are! They slip on with ease and are so versatile. I could wear these with just about anything. I did bring another pair of flat boots to wear for walking around the city, which I would recommend doing unless you are used to walking miles in stiletto heels like Carrie Bradshaw. In which case, I am super impressed!

I purchased this sequin and beaded crossbody bag/ convertible clutch from the Nordstrom sale a while back, so I could not find the exact one for you. I have linked some similar bags above. I had been waiting for an excuse to use this beautiful bag ever since I bought it, and this was the perfect occasion! Most of the time at home, I am the one playing in the symphony, not attending it. This was a special treat for both Gus and I to be the audience members for once. This bag was just the perfect amount of glam and glitter.

When we weren't taking pictures, this coat from H&M, which was in my last post, was a life saver. You will definitely be seeing more of it next week in my other Chicago posts. I did link some similar coats above, as the original coat is sold out. I love the editing work that Gus did on this photo. We were fighting with the light the whole evening, but this shot is really neat!

I accessorized this outfit with some rose gold fringe earrings from Rocksbox. They are now sold out, so I have linked some similar options above that are just as pretty! The color of these earrings really complimented the colors in my bag and the sheen of the dress.
