The Leopard Print Trend

Updated: Feb 4, 2019

The leopard/animal print trend is literally EVERYWHERE on Instagram this season. I am a pretty late bloomer to the trend, but had purchased this skirt and some boots (see earlier post) especially with our trip to Chicago in mind. While I normally go for a more floral pattern in my printed skirts, this was a great way to switch things up and look chic and modern.

Gus, his mother, sister, and I ventured out early Sunday morning to an absolutely gorgeous church near our hotel that they had been to in the past. We attended a service, got lunch at a wonderful organic restaurant, stopped by a Zara on Michigan Ave., and then headed to the Navy Pier! Our hotel was a ways from the pier and it was a bit chilly outside, but we braved the cold and walked along the lake to our destination. After enjoying a quick lunch of fish and chips and riding the ferris wheel, we ventured back to our room for some much needed rest!

This leopard skirt from Pixie Market was perfect for me. While the fabric was a little thin for the weather, I loved how it moved in the wind and enjoyed the midi/maxi length. I am only 5'4" so I am not sure which one it was supposed to be. 😆 The skirt does have a short liner underneath to prevent it from being too sheer, but the liner is pretty tight for me. I might consider putting a more full-length slip underneath in the future and cutting out the original liner. I styled this skirt with a simple, black turtleneck sweater from H&M that gave the outfit a chic and classy vibe. I know turtlenecks are not everyone's thing, but they look so cute with a necklace and skirt! Plus, this one is only $15!!

Here are some more of my favorite leopard pieces and where to find them:

These boots were a last minute purchase when I had realized that all I packed for our trip were heels and a pair of sporty tennis shoes. It can be easy to forget that when you are in the city, you walk A LOT! It is super important to have some comfy, yet stylish shoes with you and these were amazing. At only $30, these Chelsea boots from Target were by far, the most appreciated and used pair of footwear for this trip. They are SO comfortable and very versatile. I could wear them with this dressier outfit and also throw them on with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

This coat was a life saver on this trip as well. I have written about it in my last two Chicago posts. Find links to similar coats here and here!

I accessorized this outfit with an amazing Steve Madden belt bag from Macys. You all know how much I love belt bags. They are so practical and stylish! It was so great to have my hands free for all of the day's activities and to not worry about my items being stolen. I love that this bag has a cute, quilted chevron pattern on the front.

I also styled this outfit with an adorable "wifey" necklace from Morning Lavender, rings from H&M, and cute studs from Rocksbox (on sale!).
