Gus and I just got back yesterday from our trip to Turks and Caicos! It was a wonderful trip and we feel so relaxed and rejuvenated! It was so nice to be somewhere warm where I could wear clothes like this adorable romper comfortably and gladly. The temperatures ranged from highs around 80-85 degrees and lows around 70 degrees. We had a little bit of rain on one day, but for the most part, it was clear and beautiful!
We left the Kansas City airport after a close call with the clock in the early morning last Monday. We had a connecting flight in Atlanta, and made it to Turks and Caicos in mid-afternoon. That day was spent exploring the grounds and enjoying food at one of the resort's many restaurants. This look was shot the next morning, as we prepared for our first full day in paradise!
I thought this adorable romper from Target was the perfect first day look! I actually had ordered my day looks for this trip from ASOS but, with an unfortunate shipping error, I had to do some last minute shopping to replace four looks! Target turned out to be the perfect place and I found wonderful outfits that worked so well! This romper is so cute. I loved the print for a tropical location, or just for the spring and summer seasons, and the notched top that is so unique! One of the hardest things for my body shape is finding bottoms that fit me correctly, but the shorts on this romper were comfortable, roomy, and even long enough for me to feel fully covered at all times. This romper would be a wonderful coverup for the beach and outfit for a warm spring or summer day.
I bought these beautiful ruffle slide sandals from Nordstrom last summer, thanks to a blogger's recommendation, and absolutely adore them. They are the cutest pair of slides I have yet to find! I enjoy when an item of clothing has a unique detail and the ruffle texture is such a cool idea. Slides are the most comfortable trend, besides sneakers, and are so easy. While Gus doesn't really like them, I live in slides all spring and summer long. I cannot find the exact pair of sandals but have found two great, similar options linked above!
Etsy is, by far, the best place to find really cool, straw bags, great for spring or summer. Woven straw accessories (bags, hats, jewelry) are huge for this season, and nothing screams tropical destination like this beach/market bag. It is great quality and super useful for hauling around items like beach wear/towels, sunscreen, books, flowers, etc!
I topped off the look (literally) with this great, floppy, straw hat. I don't know where this hat is from, as it was a gift for me when Gus and I got married three years ago! We went to Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora for our honeymoon, so the hat was perfect for that location as well! I found a very similar one linked above.
The last of my accessories included this unique, gold belt and these equally different earrings from ASOS. While I missed out on my clothing from this brand, I did order the earrings a while earlier, and am totally impressed with them. They are one of the more different pairs that I have owned, but I wore them more on this trip than any other earrings! The belt, while I do not remember where it is from, is linked above along with a similar option.
I remember being so mad at myself after we shot this look because I was so excited to get going, that I forgot to put on lipstick! I would pair this look with a nice, bright, red lip because...vacation!!
